Kensington’s 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel introduces new scent-led Afternoon Tea menu in partnership with iconic perfumery, Floris London
100 Queen’s Gate Hotel – London is introducing an immersive scent-led Afternoon Tea ‘Scentsation’ in partnership with the quintessentially British perfumery brand, Floris London.
The new Afternoon Tea offering will celebrate the relationship between taste and scent with a menu influenced by two of their signature scents ‘Cherry Blossom Eau de Parfum’ and ‘Limes Eau de Toilette’.
Encouraging guests to embark on a journey of the senses, the hotel’s culinary team has explored the different notes in each of these two different fragrances, looking at the base notes, heart notes and top notes of each to inform and inspire its menu.
The fragrance inspired menu will comprise a selection of delicate culinary treats including craquelin choux bursting with cinnamon and orange blossom-infused white chocolate mousse.
Each of the culinary treats can be customised to please the guest’s personal tastes in scent and taste. Pots of sweet and savoury flavourings, such as lavender and honey, will be on offer to guests to elevate the floral and citrus notes of the Floris fragrance inspired menu.
The Afternoon Tea will be offered to guests in the hotel’s beautiful, botanical inspired tearoom, Botanica. The elegant, plant draped, atrium in the tearoom allows natural daylight to flood the room, creating the perfect setting for a fanciful Afternoon Tea. Inspired by the selected Floris fragrances, Botanica has been dressed in cherry blossom and limes. Here, guests will enjoy a three-layered stand of scent inspired patisseries paired with a selection of Whittard brewed teas.
Honouring the key notes of each of the Floris fragrances, the loose teas selected by specialists in fine tea, Whittard of Chelsea, to accompany the fragrance inspired menu are:
Sakura
To accentuate the fruity notes of Floris Cherry Blossom, Whittard’s Sakura, is a blend of sweet and fresh sencha green tea with glorious flavours of ripe Cherry. It has been selected to accompany the Afternoon Tea menu as it complements the spicy and fruitiness of the scones that are on offer.
Keemun
An elegant and comforting copper cup with a touch of sweetness and subtle notes of lemon that will balance the sweet and citrussy flavours of the patisserie course inspired by Floris’ ‘Limes’ Fragrance.
Guests will be offered a tea based on their preference in either the ‘Limes’ or ‘Cherry Blossom’ Floris scent, following a consultation that will help them to select their favourite.
