Moxon’s – Sustainably Sourced Seafood Straight To Your Table
Critically acclaimed MOXON’S is the London-based fish mecca run by the brilliant Robin Moxon. Robin has always been engaged with the world of fresh produce and started by selling fresh fish out of an old Citroën H Van. Following which, a short time with Antony Worral Thompson as a chef propelled Robin into the world of restaurants.
Fast forward to 2002, and the first Moxon’s fishmongers opened in Clapham, followed by three more sites: East Dulwich (2005), South Kensington (2009), and Islington (2015).
With fishmongers dotted across London he is seller to the stars and supplier to the Michelin stars. Championing the British shores – fish and seafood on offer at Moxon’s is all deliciously British – sourced daily from across the British shores from Newlyn in Cornwall and Plymouth and Brixham in Devon, Peterhead, Scalloway in the Shetland Islands to Newhaven in Sussex.
In addition, Robin opened Moxon’s Next Door, a British fish restaurant, in Spring 2018, besides the Dulwich Moxon’s site.
At the restaurant, you’ll find a selection of small plates created directly from their own catch next door enabling the restaurant to create from whatever surplus might be available, thus minimising waste and creating a more sustainably led model.
Guests can choose from a combination of seafood classics: think Whitstable Rock Oysters, grilled Rye scallops and more feature alongside hearty dishes like the Red mullet, mussels and white bean soup with saffron; pan-fried Cornish crab dumplings with soy, sesame, chilli, coriander, spring onion, and monkfish cheeks casserole made with chickpeas, turmeric, roasted tomatoes, and Kaffir lime.
Expect Moxon’s own smoked fish to feature throughout the year too. Prepared at their Wimbledon smokehouse, Robin has developed two blends: a Beech-based blend that adds a sweet, chestnut flavour to the fish – perfect for cold smoking – and a hot-smoked blend that has a fruity base flavour which adds to the robust flavours. Moxon’s own smoked salmon is smoked daily.
To accompany the fish-led menu, you will find only very rare appearances of meat at Next Door, the wine list will include Old and New world wines complementing the coastal flavours of the menu.
The menu will rotate as the seasons change and daily specials will be available depending on Robin’s morning intake.
Next Door is open for lunch Tuesday to Friday 12pm to 3pm and for dinner from 6pm to 9.30pm. Saturday the kitchen is open all day from 12pm to 9.30pm and Sunday’s close early at 4pm.
